FAQ
Do
you repair diamond anvils and anvil cells ( DAC )?
Yes, we repair diamond anvils and diamond anvil cells ( DAC ). We
can repolish the culet, with or without the 8 or 16 bevels around
it. If necessary, we also repolish the larger facets around the
culet. How much we polish away depends on the damage (because of
microcracks it is not possible to predict how much material we need
to remove to clean the culet) or on the request of the customer.
Sometimes customers want to receive a different anvil height.
Do you also sell brilliant
cut diamond anvils ?
Yes, we sell brilliant diamonds selected for high pressure applications.
Just give us the weight and/or diameter of the brilliant cut diamond
that you are looking for, and we will quote you as soon as possible.
What is your
delivery time?
New diamond anvils: 4 weeks.
Repairing of diamond anvils: 2 weeks.
CVD windows: delivery time will be given upon request.
Exceptions on the above delivery times can happen in case of raman
requirements or special designs that are requested.
Do you procuce
diamonds for spectroscopes and spectroscopie ?
Yes. Almax Industries produces diamonds for spectroscopes ( spectroscopie
). Our diamond anvils and anvil cells are unique . Also Diamond
pistons .
What colour
do your rough diamonds have?
The colour of our type IA diamonds is called "commercial white".
This means that these diamonds are white, with a light tint of yellow.
Most of our type IIA diamonds are toplight brown. Of course both
types of diamonds are selected for their transparency and purity.
What are the
tolerances on your diamond anvils?
The tolerances on the most critical dimensions of the diamond anvils
are as follows:
Culetsize: +/- 10 micron.
Parallellity of the culet to the table facet (= largest facet):
within 5 minutes.
The tolerances on the less critical dimensions of the diamond anvils
are as follows:
Diameter: +/- 25 micron.
Height: +/- 25 micron.
Can you measure
the birefringence of diamonds?
Under polarized light, you can get an indication of the birefringence
of a diamond. However, we have equipment to really measure the birefringence
of our diamonds.
What is the
smallest culet you can polish?
The smallest culets we polish routinely have a diameter of 100 micron
with bevels of 100 microns long. However, some people want to go
beyond this.
We think a 10 micron culet should be possible.
